When two passions collide, what happens? I found out tonight!
I was going to come here a post about our BIG snow storm, but was waiting for my photos to upload and thought I would check one of my favorite Type blogs. When I pulled up this post it quite literally took my breath away...and then a very unexpected thing happened. I guess when my passion for type collides with my passion for my family and my religion...I cry...and cry. I have never, ever had a piece of artwork effect my quite like this one did. I have had some make me a little emotional, but not outright crying!!
So what's so special?? This piece of art is not a drawn with lines or dots, every bit of it is created with characters from fonts...ALL of it!!! The old lead type (and sometimes wood) is lovingly put in place character by character by the artist and then printed on an old fashioned letterpress. These can be done digitally as well, I suppose, but this one, from what I can see on the artists website was not. Can you imagine the amount of time AND type that went into that 16x24 piece of art?
The other reason this is so special to me is that the art features one of the temples from my church, but not just ANY temple, the temple that islanddad and I were married in. The place where our family began! How AMAZING is that!?
I am soooo SAD that it is already sold out and HOPE that my emailing the artist and begging for a print, might convince him to print a few more--or really ONE more really, that is all I need!!! If you want to look at some close ups of this beautiful artwork (or email Cameron to help me plead my case) you can do that HERE!
You are welcome to stop by tomorrow to see some snow photos (I am mostly posting them for islandgrandparents, but you are welcome to look at them if you want to too) :)
