We are laying low today...well sort of...lol. I am cooking a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for my little family (all 5 of us)...but it seems to be a lot of work no matter how small the group is...lol. So, in between putting the turkey in the oven and starting the Stressed Yams, I thought I would post.
The play is going really well. I pretty much have the whole thing memorized!! :) :) :) I am very pleased with this! We will have all day rehearsal on Saturday and then rehearsals everyday next week and we open Friday night. I am nervous, but hoping that since we will be running the show so much on stage next week that will help ease my nerves! I have a yucky cold right now too which is slowing me down, but Saturday will be a week for my cold and don't they say they usually last a week? Drinking lots of Airborne! :)
I did participate in the Stand Up and Scrap contest that went over several weeks. For the most part I enjoyed the process! There were issues with the competition, but I think the sponsors realize that and will make changes for next time. I LOVED being assigned a number and not having anyone know who was posting the layouts. I never, ever would have entered otherwise. For the most part, I am happy with my layouts and even got some points from the judges (which means that some judges put a few of my layouts in their top 10 picks). The one layout that took me the most time and was, I felt the most original, did not score any points...Lil. The layout I felt was the least original scored the most points...Lil. BUT, one of my favorite layouts did score a couple points, so that made it all worth it! :) Anyway, I thought I would post them here:::
This layout was for the first week...the challenge was to scrap about a wish and use brushes...I don't use brushes on hardly any of my layouts, so this one was a challenge for me!
This was week two and the challenge was to scrap what makes your life sweet and use at least 3 different patterned papers. This LO took me the longest. I drew the pattern in Illustrator and then made a template out of the shapes. I then also, drew the doodles in Illustrator.

This was week three and the challenge was to scrap a song and use fontwork. I actually did receive points for this layout and I was thrilled with about that because this layout was probably the one that I had the most emotionally invested in. I'm pretty sure one of the judges came back and posted a comment on the LO after the top 10 was posted and I wasn't there because there was a comment from an obviously made up contestant number that day. It meant a lot to me that she did that...whomever she was!! :) Note the song title on the radio...I did that with a font :D :D :D The song is "Even The Best Fall Down" by Howie Day. The layout is about the day my dh was diagnosed with kidney disease. Those of you that have been reading my blog for a while know that he received a transplant almost 2 years ago and is doing very well! :) I couldn't put what he was diagnosed with in the layout because of anonymity.

This is the next layout and the challenge was to communicate an emotion through a monochromatic color. The only other colors we could use were shades of neutrals.
This challenge was photography, to use one great photo with a graphic design. I have to admit that I was very disappointed that this layout didn't get any points! :(
This is my least favorite layout. The challenge was to scrap something you are going to change (I think) and then to just scrap your heart out. I'm not very happy with this one and doubt I will ever post it anywhere but here....so that just goes to show you that scrapbooking, much like art, is subjective...lol.
So there you have it! :) My SUAS entries! I have some more layouts that I have done using Janet Phillips new templates, which I LOVE!! They turned out really, really cute!! I will save them for another day though, since this post has so many images...lol.
BUT, I will share, and those of you that read to the end THANKS!! Keep your eyes open for some very exciting news at FONTOLOGIE in the next couple weeks!
